Our Church St Peter and St Pauls

Frequently Asked Questions!

These are some of the questions we are asked regularly! If none of these questions and answers help you, then feel free to e-mail wwjd@rivercofe.co.uk

Do I have to be a Christian to come to Church?

No. We love having people of any religion or no religion at our services. We try to make each service useful and accessible for someone who isn't a Christian as well as those who are. See new approach to the Church of England

How do I join?
If you are interested in joining the Church, the best way to start is by coming on a Sunday. Please introduce yourself to a member of congregation; we'd love to meet you! We can then talk about how you might be involved, and answer your questions.

How do I find the church?

See the finding us page of this website.

top

What about parking?

There is some parking on the many roads surrounding the Church.

top

What if I find it difficult to get to you?

If you need a lift to get to church, then contact us  and we will do our best to help.

top

What should I wear?

You can wear whatever you like, there is no ‘dress code’!

top

Do I need to bring any money?

We do pass a collection basket around in our services. Members of the Church do give money regularly, but any donation is done voluntarily. Refreshments served after the services are also free.

Can I bring children?

Yes. We love having children with us, and most morning services there is a children's slot especially for them. You can also take them into the Christian Centre and you can let your children run around. Children are encouraged into positive involvement in the Church's educational and fun activities.

What if children are noisy?

Don't worry! Sometimes it just happens that way! If you make your way to the back of the Church, someone will point you to the Christian Centre where you can sit and let them be as noisy as they like!

top

What sort of people will I meet at church?

You will meet people of all ages, from all walks of life.

top

How long does each service last?

Usually 1 hour, though sometimes slightly longer. After the formal close of the service there are always light refreshments served at the back of the Church. There are always hot and cold drinks, biscuits or cake. This is a good time to get to know other people and chat.

What happens at Church?

In a Church service, no-one is put 'on the spot' or told to do or say anything they feel uncomfortable with.

In some parts of the service we are invited simply to listen such as when we have our reading from the Bible and a talk explaining the Bible.

In other parts of the service we are invited to sing a hymn or say together a summary of Christian belief. Everything we are invited to say will be either on the big screen or on a service sheet in front of you. There are also prayers led by someone from the front and often we are invited to say 'Amen' if we agree with what has been prayed.

Once a month (the first week of the month) we have Communion which is when Christians are invited to come to the front of Church and eat a small piece of bread and drink some wine as an opportunity to remember Jesus' death.

We welcome anyone to come to any of our Church services.
